The Project PROMISE held their annual partners meeting from the 17th to 20th January 2022 at Waters Edge, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting was attended by 13 members from all consortium partners – Maldives National University (MNU), adelphi, National Cleaner Production Center (NCPC), Parley Maldives, STENUM Asia, and The Energy and Research Institute (TERI).

The meeting was inaugurated by the opening remarks from the chairman of NCPC Mr. Gamini Gunasekera. He highlighted the importance of such projects and expressed the interest of working with all consortium partners in the future while welcoming the members from the partner institutions to Sri Lanka.

The working sessions were distributed to 3 days where the partners discussed and reviewed the project activities and goals. Reflecting on the achievements and year 1 activities, the plan for the rest of 2022 was finalized and targets were set till the 30th of June 2022.

While elaborating the work conducted with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), planning and structuring of the assessments in all three countries were discussed along with the current challenges and potential solutions. In addition to this, more in-depth discussions were held with regard to the Zero Waste Alliance, PROMISE Sustainability Awards, and other communications for the project.

The meetings were concluded with the attendance of EU representative Ms. Harshini Halangode. She was presented with an overview of the achievements thus far and the targets set for the end of year 2 of the project. Ms Harshini was thanked for her time and interest in the project by all partners led by Dr Abdulla Nazeer; Project Manager. He also expressed gratitude to the Chairman, the CEO and the NCPC team for hosting the meeting and hospitality extended to the members during the visit to Sri Lanka.
