  • INDIA: Second Policy Roundtable on marine litter prevention in India

    The second policy roundtable was held on 26 July 2022 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This event was a follow-up to the first policy roundtable held on 5 April 2022 where participants discussed the current challenges and gaps in policies for India (Kerala) to prevent marine litter. The event was attended by stakeholders from local government agencies, research and academic organizations, bilateral agencies and NGOs. 

  • MALDIVES: PROMISE team and MNU Staff Club Cleanup Event - 18 June 2022

    The PROMISE team of The Maldives National University along with the MNU Staff conducted a cleanup on 18th June 2022 at Male' Industrial Zone.

    During this cleanup, 10 enthusiastic participants collected a total of 312.46 kg of waste out of which over 80 kg of plastics were sent to Parley Maldives for closed-loop recycling. The remaining general waste was sent to the Waste Management Company (WAMCO).

  • June 2022 - PROMISE Partners Meeting

    The Project PROMISE held their partners meeting on the 09th of June 2022 at the Maldives National University. The meeting was attended by 15 members from all consortium partners - Maldives National University, adelphi, National Cleaner Production Center (NCPC), Parley Maldives, STENUM Asia and The Energy and Research Institute (TERI).

    The meeting was initiated with remarks from Dr. Abdulla Nazeer, who welcomed all the partners and provided a brief structure of the meeting.

  • Award Ceremony of PROMISE Sustainability Awards 2022

    The first PROMISE Sustainability Awards 2022 event was held on the 08th of June, 2022, at the Maldives National University. With the theme “Innovative Waste Reduction Initiatives”, this event coincided with World Oceans Day. Various invitees from the government, tourism enterprises and international organizations joined this event.

  • MALDIVES: Second Policy Roundtable on Marine Litter Prevention

    The Maldives Second Policy Roundtable on Policy Solutions Prototyping for Marine Litter Prevention was held on 06 June 2022 at The Maldives National University, Male’, Maldives.  The meeting was attended by 31 participants from a wide range of stakeholders. This multi- stakeholder event observed a very active participation from different ministries, President's Office, other government entities and state-owned enterprises, development organizations, NGOs, corporates and academia.

  • SRI LANKA: Beach CleanUpactivity at the Calido Beach, Kalutara, Sri Lanka

    The beach cleanup was organized to commemorate the World Environment Day and to kick off Promise Beach Cleanup activities in Sri Lanka. Event was collaborated by  Royal Palms Beach Hotel, Kalutara and Parley Sri Lanka.  Eco spindles Pvt Ltd joined with the event as recycling partner.  Over 68 volunrerrs were participated for this beach cleanup representig NCPC SL staff and family members, Staff of  Royal Palms Beach Hotel, Students representing Sri Lanka Girls Guide Association and other volunteers.

  • INDIA: First Beach Clean-Up at Puthuvype, Kerala under Project PROMISE

    On 31st March 2022, the first beach clean-up activity under PROMISE Project took place successfully thanks to the nearly 200 enthusiastic volunteers from four colleges - SCMS Management, SCMS Kalamassery, SCMS Architecture and MES Marampally. The beach clean-up efforts were coordinated by STENUM Asia and TERI (Project PROMISE consortium partners) with the local support of KHRA-Rezoy at Puthuvype beach, Kerala to tackle the problem of marine litter.
