  • SRI LANKA: First policy roundtable on marine litter prevention in Sri Lanka

    The first policy roundtable on marine litter prevention was conducted in Sri Lanka by adelphi Germany in collaboration with NCPC, Sri Lanka on the 21st of January, 2022. The main purpose of this policy roundtable is to identify and define the challenges for prevention of marine litter in Sri Lanka.

  • MALDIVES: Stakeholder Engagement at Kaafu Maafushi, Maldives

    Project PROMISE Maldives Partners from Parley conducted a Stakeholder Engagement event at Kaafu Maafushi on 21st September 2021.  The meeting was held with the local government authorities and guesthouse owners and operators. Maafushi has almost 50 guesthouses, and a staggering total of over 1300 tourist beds on the island.

    The team first met with the newly elected Maafushi Council to introduce the PROMISE Project and the Maldivian partners involved in it.

  • SRI LANKA: Online dialogue with enterprises and other stakeholders from tourism sector

    09/07/2021

    A virtual mobilization event for enterprises working in tourism sector was conducted by NCPC, Sri Lanka on the 8th July, 2021. The main purpose of this mobilization event is to disseminate the objectives and planned activities of PROMISE project and expected outcomes to the potential stakeholders including already applied organizations and potential applicants.

  • Training of Trainers (ToT) for local consultants on conducting the physical and online assessment of enterprises

    A short online Training of Trainers (ToT-lite) was conducted for the PROMISE project team members of Maldives, Sri Lanka and India, on 21st and 23rd June 2021. The purpose of this training was to revisit the objectives of the PROMISE project, familiarize the team with the methodology to be used for assessing participating enterprises and to prepare the participants for conducting the physical and online assessment of the enterprises.

  • INDIA: Online dialogue with relevant stakeholders from Kerala

    An online dialogue was organized for around 20 stakeholders from Kerala, mostly representing the hotel industry, on 24 June 2021.  The objective was to introduce the project to stakeholders, understand their areas of concern and share the benefits of joining the project.  The event used a combination of presentations and interactive sessions.  The participants showed interest in the project and were keen to join.  Visits to select enterprises are being planned for assessment actions of the project.
